The lovely day started with all enjoying the glimpsy of ethopia the Rastafarian culture in the north-countryside. A big thanks to "Hammerland tour company here" then we had to trek to the semien mountain ranges Region.

It’s a mysterical world of primeval forests, misty peaks, bizzare plants and exotic creatures in the North- East of Gondar in Amhara region,Ethiopia where their lies the Simien Mountains that consist of dark trapp basalt and bright, soft turf plateaus separated by valleys and rising to pinnacles along with the Simien Mountains National Park that has got unique wildlife.

And breath taking views of the landscape shaped by nature and the traditional agriculture.

THE MOUNTAINS

The Simien Mountains are poetically known as “The Roof of Africa”due to their scope and size as well as they are known to be Africa’s  fourth highest mountains with their highest peak as Ras Dashen(4,550m) followed by Mount Biuat(4,437m) and Abba Yared among other peaks towering a height above 4,000 meters.
Some of the peaks of the mountains in the semiens

The cliffs and deep canyon style gorges provide a feast for the eyes during  day and the night is filled with hours of cold and dark, wrapped in the smooth sound of rushing waters from the mountains streams,a beautiful scenary of the headlamps as they highlight a trail leading steadily upwards for about 10km into the farmlands with a closely elevated clear view of the sky.

Water streams from up the mountains

Trekking the mountains is challenging but not technical, though it takes six hours of continous climbling up the ranges and scrambled rocky walls to the summits … and standing on top of the highest peak is well like standing on the roof of Africa.

Donkeys are good for the mountain trekkings

THE PARK

Simien Mountains National Park due to the existence of the Simien mountains turns out to be an endemic home for the rear wildlife and spieces of creatures in the world as it habours: the Gelanda, a rear specie of monkeys with a scarlet patch of skin on its chest which led its mickery of “bleeding heart”.

A Gelanda monkey

The Ethiopian Wolf which is the planets rarest canit with a population of 50 in the simien mountains,

The Walia Ibex that looks like a large deer with long ridged hornes only found in the area And its said the Males cut an especially impressive figure with their black beards and metre long ridged horns

The Bushbuck l related to the mpala, nyana types

And klipspringer were the Klipspringers can jump 25 feet in the air, and they're less than two feet tall.

This park covers ridges of 1,000-2,000 meters  of deep escarpments
is was established in 1969 with concept of conservation of the above spieces.
The sun set at the mountain as i was leaving

It was when we had to move from the semien regions in ethiopia with a great experience that there i realised that their is more to the world to see, a reason why you need to visit this place and many other beautiful scenaries the world has to offer take that from me.
